Since 1963, the versatility of ice and snow as building materials has been showcased in the annual Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival in the city of Harbin, China. This has led to an entire generation of ice and snow artists that have astounded the world with their talent.
This winter, for the first time, their skill and know-how will be brought to audiences in Europe as ICIUM, Wonderworld of Ice, rises in Levi, Finland's most popular winter destination. Levi, with average temperatures in November of below -7C, is the perfect place to recreate the Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival in Harbin, albeit on a much smaller scale.
The world famous ice sculptor Ma Yue, who has won numerous awards in ice and snow festivals in the United States and Europe, is one of the artists that will turn blocks of snow and ice into spectacular works of art.
